Mali: SISSOKO signs a new deal with the Reds
After speculation linking him with other clubs in a supposed transfer this summer, Liverpool 22-year-old Mali international midfielder Mohamed SISSOKO will finally be staying with the Reds until at least 2011.
The player told his club's website why all the rumours about his departure from the Anfield squad have proved untrue. "It was never in my thoughts to leave Liverpool. It has obviously given me huge boost to my confidence that the manager believes in me and wanted me to stay. Now I want to repay him on the pitch." SISSOKO says he knows that he will "face a battle for a place in the team as we have so many great midfielders. I'm prepared to fight for a position."
Since he joined the Reds from Spanish club Valencia in July 2005 SISSOKO has made 71 appearances for Liverpool without scoring.
