The 23-yer-old Nigerian striker IKECHUKWU UCHE who plays for Spanish Liga Recreativo Huelva has just signed a three-year contract with another Spanish club, Getafe.
UCHE has been in Spanish football since 2001. In the season 2005/06 he helped Recreativo, the oldest club in Spanish football regain promotion to the top division by scoring 21 goals. An injury forced him to miss the start of last season but he managed to score nine goals in 21 appearances for his club. "It gives me great fulfilment to play for the oldest club in the country and leave such a great mark.", he said. About his transfer to Getafe he added: "I think now is the time to start chasing those dreams I've always had, which is to win trophies and I think I have joined an ambitious club in Getafe."
UCHE expressed gratitude to Recreativo Huelva for allowing him to complete his move. "I've had a wonderful time with Recreativo and the club will always have a special place in my heart.", he told BBC Sport, before adding: "I had a family atmosphere there and wish the club all the best. I'll never forget the players, the management and the fans for their wonderful support." He also said how happy he is "to be joining Getafe, it is a team that showed they wanted me more and they also play football just the way I like it."
