| OBI MIKEL's return among the Super Eagles |
Nigeria coach Berti VOGTS has decided to recall OBI MIKEL for a friendly due to be played tomorrow 22 August against Macedonia in Skopje. This happens after OBI's apology to the coach and to the Nigerian Football Association (NFA).
The young Chelsea international midfielder had been suspended indefinitely by the NFA after he pulled out of an African Nations Cup qualifier against Uganda at the end of last season, on the ground that he was suffering an injury. The case led to a club-versus country row between Chelsea and Nigeria over the nature of the injury that forced the young 'Super Eagle' to miss the match against Uganda.
OBI presented apology to VOGTS and the NFA who want him to apologise to his tem-mates. NFA spokesman Ademola OLAJIRE thinks that tomorrow's friendly "is indeed an opportunity for MIKEL to tender his apology to the entire players; I believe this would foster good spirit and understanding."
VOGTS also recalled CSKA Moscow defender Chidi ODIAH, who has not played for Nigeria since 2006 Afican Nations Cup because of a serious injury. As for striker IKECHUKWU UCHE who plays for Spanish side Getafe, he is expected to gain his first international cap in Skopje tomorrow.
VOGTS also revealed that the Super Eagles will face Slovenia in Ljubijana on 17 November instead of original opponents Austria.
