Nigeria : YAKUBU from Boro to Everton ?

After receiving permission from his club to begin talks with the Toffees of Everton, the 24-year-old Middlesborough’s Nigerian striker YAKUBU was at Goodison Park yesterday Thursday 23 August to have a medical and discuss personal terms with Everton’s technical staff. He is close to completing his proposed £ 11.25m (about € 16.7m) move to Everton.
Porstmouth who brought the him from Maccabi Haifa (Israel) in 2003 were also said to be interested in re-signing his former striker. Impressed at that time the 29 goals YAKUBU scored in 65 Premier League appearances for Portsmouth, Middlesborough recruited him in July 2005 after paying £7m (about €10.4m).
A Boro spokesman confirmed that both Middlesborough and Everton “agreed a fee but will only confirm it once the deal is complete.” YAKUBU played the two Premier League matches of the season with Boro but was left out of their weekend victory at Fulham. According to sources close to YAKUBU, the ‘Super Eagle’ had not submitted a transfer request to Boro boss Gareth SOUTHGATE.
