| Nigeria : YAKUBU to Everton : decision today… |
YAKUBU’s move from Middlesborough to Everton is facing a difficulty after he was refused a work permit. English authorities refered to a Home Office requirement which compels foreign players in England to play in 75% of their countries’ games during the last two years, and the Nigerian striker failed to meet it. Everton have appealed against that decision. What they will tell a hearing in Sheffield is that YAKUBU failed to play 75% of Nigeria’s games in the last two years only because he opted out of international football. The decision concerning that appeal will be known today Wednesday 29 August.
The Boro star has already agreed terms and passed a medical. Last week an agreement was accepted by both Middlesborough and Everton about the fee to be paid for the transfer.
