Nigeria : ANICHEBE commits to Nigeria
Everton young striker Victor ANICHEBE has just rejected a place in the England under-21 squad and decided to play for the country of his birth. He said he gave his opinion on the matter to the England under-21 manager Stuart PEARCE during a chat with him. He feels that Nigeria is better for him. ANICHEBE will not likely make his debut for Nigeria in next Saturday’s Cup of Nations qualifier against the ‘Crocodiles’ of Lesotho. The 19-year-old boy was born in Nigeria but moved to England when he was a baby. His international career has been in doubt for some time. When he withdrew from an England U-19 squad in 2006, he was called up to Nigeria’s U-20 later but failed to attend training camp.
ANICHEBE scored six goals in 31 Everton appearances, 21 as substitute.
