“Portsmouth” (England) and “The Leopards” of the RD Congo striker Trésor Lumana LUA LUA could not play the match opposing Libya to RD Congo in tripoli last sunday for the 2nd qualifying play of the African Cup of Nations 2008. The libyan security agents did not allow him to enter the country on the groud that he did not have a visa for Libya. That problem of compulsory visa for people travelling from an african country to another even for high level spotsmen travelling to play international encounters should be tacled by african rulers. Thus ridiculous situations such as that faced by LUA LUA will not happen again.
Another sad even ridiculous situation to avoid is John UTAKA’s case. He also was absent absent when the “Super Eagles” of Nigeria went to Maseru to play with Lesotho last sunday. The raison is that UTAKA could not obtain a visa for Lesotho from South Africa consulate in Paris (which represents Lesoto’s interests in France), only because there no free page in his passport on which the visa would have been affixed. And according to an information in Nigeria embassy they could not deliver him a new passport, only because the device destined for that has been out of order for 2 months. I don’t find that funny...
