African footballers : who is the best ?

On the occasion of its 50 years of existence, the Confideration of African Football invites african football followers to chose from a list of 200 nominees which player they consider as the best African footballer of the last 50 years. They can consult the full list of the nominees and register their votes on the CAF website (www.cafonline.com) The criteria that led to the selection of these 200 nominees are based on the impact these players have had on the continent through their performances both at national and international levels between 1957 and today. The voters are allowed either to pick a player from that list or to nominate another player of their choice. The initial voting period goes up to november 15 and will end on a short list of 50 top nominees. As from december ut to february 8, 2007 which is the date in 1957 when CAF was founded the fans will vote again this time to give the name of whom they consider as the best African footballer of the last 50 years.
CAF ruling body plans to organise several events to commemorate the 50th birthday of the Confederation, including a youth football tournament involving CAF’s four founder members (Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa and Sudan)
