| Madagascar: ZITTEL replaces ROSSIGNOL |
Appointed as the coach of Madagascar in March Frenchman Jean-Paul ROSSIGNOL was sacked in April after losing his debut match 3-0 to the Ivory Coast in the third leg of the Group 1 of the African Nations Cup qualifiers. The Malagasy Football Federation (MFF) said they took that decision on government orders. Before coaching Madagascar ROSSIGNOL worked for the French Football Federation and in the United Arab Emirates.
A week ago the MFF named the 55-year-old German Gunther ZITTEL to replace ROSSIGNOL. He was previously working as instructor for the German Football Federation. He also worked as an assistant coach at Bundesliga side 1860 Munich in the 1990s. ZITTEL's appointement is likely to be short term since Madagascar have no chance of qualifying for the 2008 finals in Ghana.
